Job Summary

Role and Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical design architecture and end-to-end development of insurance-related applications.

  • Oversee solution delivery across different platforms including:

    • Web: React Angular JavaScript TypeScript

    • Backend: Java Spring Boot NodeJS

    • Integration: MuleSoft

  • Steer and mentor development teams in best coding design and review practices.

  • Ensure robust API/interface and batch solutions for data exchange and automation (Control-M JP1 Job Scheduler JS7 JobScheduler).

  • Collaborate with Product Owners Business Analysts QA DevOps and IT Operations to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Set and enforce secure coding standards and participate in code design and architecture reviews.

  • Promote CI/CD and DevOps culture by effectively utilizing Jenkins GitHub and containerization platforms (OpenShift).

  • Drive adoption of database best practices (MySQL Postgres) and enable data analytics and reporting integration (Databricks Power BI Zato).

  • Support troubleshooting impact analysis and performance tuning activities.

  • Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory and compliance requirements (including insurance industry and FSA Japan).

  • Communicate effectively with technical and business teams in both Japanese and English.

Must

  • 10 years of solution and application design/development experience (hands-on) including leadership responsibilities.

  • Deep expertise in front-end and back-end technologies: React Angular JavaScript TypeScript Java Spring Boot NodeJS.

  • Experience with integration frameworks/platforms such as MuleSoft.

  • Strong architectural mindset with the ability to develop scalable maintainable and secure solutions.

  • Experience with batch processing/orchestration tools (Control-M JP1 Job Scheduler).

  • Practiced in CI/CD toolchains (Jenkins GitHub) and container platform (OpenShift).

  • Strong skills in database design with MySQL and Postgres.

  • Ability to communicate fluently (business level) in both Japanese and English.

  • Proven experience leading multi-cultural distributed development teams.

  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience in Japan s insurance business systems (Life and P&C).

  • Familiarity with data engineering analytics and business intelligence tools (Databricks Power BI Zato).

  • Security-first development: understanding of CheckMarx or similar tools.

  • Knowledge of performance tuning and non-functional requirements management.

  • Certifications: TOGAF AWS Architect Certified Scrum Master.

  • Insurance domain knowledge is an added advantage.
