ABOUT THE POSITION
The Lab Coordinator will report to the Director of Pre-Clinical Medicine and Teaching Labs and Lab Coordinator on all aspects of the management and maintaining the operation of the teaching labs used for undergraduate programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Administrative Coordination:
- Maintain laboratory schedules in coordination with academic staff and timetabling teams.
- Track and update inventory records equipment logs and maintenance schedules.
- Assist in the documentation and preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) risk assessments and compliance reports.
- Coordinate internal communication related to lab usage access and safety protocols.
- Procurement and Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels of consumables chemicals instruments and other lab resources.
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotations place orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain accurate procurement records including purchase orders invoices and supplier correspondence and ensure timely payment to vendors.
- Laboratory Setup and Support:
- Assist in the preparation and setup of lab stations and equipment for practical teaching sessions.
- Ensure availability and functionality of lab tools models and teaching aids before each session.
- Provide basic technical support during lab sessions and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Other miscellaneous lab-related tasks assigned by the supervisor.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Minimum of a bachelors degree in basic/biomedical science.
- At least one year of working in wet laboratory or related experience and/or training including academic experience.
- Be a team player with can-do attitude.
- Must be able to follow instructions and procedures pertaining to the task at hand.
- Must be familiar with Windows MS Office (Word Excel Outlook).
- Ensures health and safety protocols are in place.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
