Job Title: Senior Internal Auditor
Location: Detroit MI (Onsite)- Look for local or willing
Work Type: Contract (40 45 hrs/week)
Job Type: 4 6 months (extension to 12 months likely)
Notes:
Must have recent automotive manufacturing internal audit experience (plant-level required)
Public Accounting Audit exp Internal Audit exp required
Must be able to relocate quickly to Detroit if not local (project could start as early as next week)
Key focus areas: SOX testing (production payroll purchasing reporting) inventory audits (raw WIP finished spares) tooling oversight operational/financial audits compliance reviews
AuditBoard experience strongly preferred

Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Internal Auditor with recent automotive manufacturing experience for a hands-on contract assignment. This role will support internal audit activities at an automotive plant with emphasis on SOX testing inventory controls tooling oversight and operational/financial audits. The environment is fast-paced with compressed timelines and high expectations for execution.
This is not a managerial role.
Execute SOX control testing related to production purchasing payroll and financial reporting
Perform inventory audits across raw materials WIP (work in progress) finished goods and spare parts ensuring counts and classifications tie to the ERP system and financial statements
Assess tooling controls including procurement storage usage depreciation and safeguarding of high-value tools and equipment
Conduct operational and financial audits of plant processes identifying control gaps and inefficiencies
Review compliance with corporate policies regulatory requirements and safety standards
Leverage AuditBoard (preferred) or similar audit software to document track and report testing and results
Requirements
Recent relevant internal audit experience in the automotive industry (plant-level exposure required)
Solid execution experience in SOX testing operational audits and financial audits
AuditBoard experience strongly preferred; other audit software experience acceptable
