Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Review & Negotiation
- Draft review and negotiate master service agreements (MSAs) subcontract agreements and owner contracts.
- Advise leadership on contract terms risk allocation and negotiation strategies.
- Claims & Disputes
- Develop prepare and manage claims related to scope changes delays or disputes.
- Provide legal strategy for dispute resolution settlement mediation arbitration or litigation support.
- Lien Rights & Collections
- File manage and enforce mechanics liens to secure payment rights across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support finance and operations teams in collections matters.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure company operations comply with state federal and industry regulations.
- Provide proactive legal guidance to mitigate risks on ongoing projects.
- Develop internal templates policies and best practices for contracts and claims management.
Qualifications:
- D. degree from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. state (Texas preferred multi-state experience highly valued).
- 510 years of relevant experience ideally with a focus in construction law power/infrastructure projects or commercial contracting.
- Strong knowledge of contract law construction claims and lien laws in multiple states.
- Excellent drafting negotiation and communication skills.
- Business-minded approach with the ability to balance risk with operational goals.
- Experience supporting mid-to-large construction contractors preferred.
