Job Description

Position Title: Assistant Director of Multilingual LearningLocation: Central Office (237 Essex Street Lawrence MA 01840)Reports to: Senior Director of Multilingual LearningJob Goal: Lawrence Public Schools seeks an Assistant Director of Multilingual Learning to support the Department of Multilingual Learning in executing key district ML teaching and learning initiatives and operations to support Multilingual Learner Education for approximately 6000 English Learners. Performance Responsibilities Department Operations & Information Management Coordinate day-to-day operations of the ML Department. Manage and oversee federal and state EL compliance processes and their implementation including identification and screening parent notifications FEL monitoring opt-out monitoring and SLIFE identification and monitoring. Oversee maintenance of accurate records of student and educator enrollment and attendance at departmental program and professional development Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets Execute and improve upon department wide administrative and organization systems Apply for and manage grants related to ML education such as Title III. Manage department staff as neededProgram Management Assist in the development of new district programs Organize and supervise selected current programs such as summer vacation and after school learning programs or other programs as assigned by departmental leadership (including posting positions hiring staff creating systems to support program implementation managing program finances and evaluating program effectiveness)Project Support Assist the Senior Director in the development of district initiatives to advance EL teaching and learning Research and prepare summaries of best practices in specific aspects of EL education Assist in the development of departmental presentations and preparation of reports Support internal auditing and program evaluation as determined by the Senior DirectorCollaboration & Communication Prepare and manage communications with stakeholders including managing the ML Department website Serve as a liaison between the ML Department and other district offices. Participate in/lead department meetings Participate on key central office and district committees. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Curriculum and Instruction The responsibilities listed above are intended as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or logical assignment to the : A successful Assistant Director of Multilingual Learning will have district leadership experience strong attention to detail experience using data to inform decision making strong knowledge of best practices in multilingual learner education and be a strong project manager who is passionate about providing excellent programming for students and educators in and Experience Requirements: Bachelors degree required Masters degree preferred Experience in education operations Experience in managing budgets grants and procurement Familiarity with ESL DLE SEI regulations in MassachusettsSkills & Competencies: Manage projects and personnel for daily activities and long-term projects Bilingual strongly preferred (Spanish or Portuguese) Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks Strong interpersonal skills organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
