Position Title: Director of Multilingual Learner Curriculum & InstructionLocation: Central OfficeReports To: Senior Director of ML ServicesJob Overview:Support the Senior Director in leading the implementation and continuous improvementof high-quality culturally and linguistically responsive instructional practices forMultilingual Learners that are aligned with WIDA and state standards. The Director will collaborate with district and building administration faculty and external district partners to provide leadership direction and support to both ML and general education teachers in the areas of English Language Development and Sheltered Content Instruction/Sheltered English Immersion. Responsibilities:Curriculum & Instruction Leadership:Support the implementation of sheltered instruction and language development across the closely with school leaders instructional coaches and central office teams to support the implementation of K-12 English Language Development curriculum for delivery in a variety of instructional models (pull out push in and co-teaching)Guide the selection implementation and evaluation of instructional materials for ESL bilingual and general education that curricula are designed to promote critical thinking literacy cultural awareness and global ML Coaches and buildings leadership in the robust implementation of SEI practices and strategies by content subject the effectiveness of existing curricula and instructional practices and recommend improvements based on assessments feedback and data the departments coaches and expert Development & Support:Design and deliver targeted professional development for ESL teachers content-area teachers school leaders and support teacher capacity around language acquisition theory differentiation and inclusive practices for MLs including newcomers and LTELs (long-term ELs).Work with district and building based ML instructional coaches to support their coaching a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the ML Data Analysis and MTSS:Analyze EL student performance data to identify instructional gaps and student performance data to identify trends make instructional recommendations and implement and assess student progress in ELD and model the use of both qualitative and quantitative data to inform collaboratively with other district and school leaders to build out an MTSS system to better support struggling and advanced learners including adapting those systems to meet the needs of multilingual reports and updates to district leadership regarding student outcomes curriculum progress and departmental & Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with other directors administrators and staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to district-wide curriculum with communication to parents students and community stakeholders about the districts ML programs goals and the ML department at district meetings state meetings and in state/national organizations when partnerships with community organizations higher education institutions and other stakeholders to expand resources for educators and with HR and Talent departments on teacher onboarding mentoring andretention strategies for ESL and bilingual & Inclusion:Ensure that the ML curricula and instructional practices promote diversity inclusion and equity for all an environment that values diverse perspectives cultures and & Experience Required:Masters degree in TESOL or similarMassachusetts ESL Teacher license (PK-6 or 5-12) required Supervisor/director (non-core) license or ability to obtain itAt least 5 years of successful experience teaching ESLExperience as an instructional leader or coach in ML education preferredExperience leading professional developmentSkills & Competencies: Bilingual or advanced proficiency in Spanish Portuguese or Haitian Creole Familiarity with ESL DLE SEI regulations in Massachusetts Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks Strong interpersonal skills organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
