Position Summary:
The Maintenance Manager performs activities related to the design modification operation and maintenance of the process equipment in the plant. The Manager leads activities to deliver objectives and expectations across safety quality service performance and people objectives within maintenance. Collaborates with the Plant Manager and site leadership to provide the development of plant strategies within the facility to deliver the site and company goals. Develop an operational strategy for the maintenance team and deliver key initiatives through proper leadership and continuous improvement efforts to ensure sustainability. Partners with all departments to ensure adequate oversight of the department for a 24/7 operation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
- Understands company safety practices able to recognize and address safety concerns. Follows all plant and corporate policies and procedures in the operation of the facility. Comply with all local state and federal regulatory requirements for operation safety and environmental expectations.
- Serves in a leadership capacity to collaborate and help build strategies to deliver site goals in support of Circulus goals and objectives.
- Ensures that healthy operational reviews and measures/KPIs are in place to track and deliver results to reduce injuries improve quality and reduce costs. Prepares and delivers KPIs to the Leadership team and members as required. This may include KPIs such as Right First Time Mean Time Between Failures Incident Frequency Breakdown Paretos and TPM activity.
- Build development plans to improve all levels of the team in the department. Actively coaches direct and indirect reports to increase their capability and the results of the team.
- Leads by example in creating a safe and collaborative team environment. Enforces safety management program to prevent incidents and meet site objectives Works alongside team as needed.
- Provides an interface between equipment or process suppliers and the facility for equipment installation troubleshooting and maintenance routine development.
- Provides oversight of the plant operations by reviewing studying troubleshooting and problem-solving the plant processes and equipment. Take immediate actions to minimize risk to the facility by managing the team and obtaining external expertise to resolve issues.
- Leads and manages a team of maintenance technicians in meeting the corrective actions and preventive measures to maintain and continually improve our process equipment. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to schedule and perform maintenance activities on equipment and processes. Prepare work schedules
- They are the leader in continuous improvement of our equipment and processes by analyzing and interpreting KPIs and data for opportunities to improve uptime efficiencies yields and operating costs of our process.
- Improves the process by implementing changes in operations controls equipment procedures parameters operational theory and other related influences. They are considered the technical resource for the facility.
- Develops technical specifications to procure equipment and services preparing justification cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval.
- Tracks expenses and oversees the development and maintenance of the maintenance budget.
- Performs design work and oversight for other assigned tasks to ensure they are completed safely accurately and efficiently. Conduct audits and inspections to evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance teams or other parties.
- The position shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and area utilizing cleaning solutions pressure washers and other equipment to accomplish the task meeting 5S and Preventive Maintenance requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management or apparent.

Experience and Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.
- Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university; and a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience (preferably in food/beverage packaging or extrusion industries) and 5 years of supervisory experience. Work experience in plastics or recycling is a plus.
- Demonstrated structured problem-solving skills to include analytical and data-based decision-making skills statistical analysis and proficiency with MS Office suites preventative maintenance systems diagnostic software solid-state electronics including PLC and VFD work order systems and software.
- Strong knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as 8D A3 FMEA 5 whys etc.
- We must adhere to the Companys policies and rules set forth; promote the Companys safety standards; do not take inappropriate risks.
- Proven leadership capability with proven team development and accountability.
- Lead by example and be able to manage teams across four shifts. Works alongside their team as needed and evaluates and coaches members to develop capability.
- Must be process-oriented and results-driven in setting and pursuing aggressive goals demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational success and marshalling resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical specifications wiring diagrams prints and layouts.
- Experience with the Plastics Industry preferred.
- Experience with a CAD package is a positive.
- You must obtain licenses for a Forklift a Scissor Lift Aerial Boom Lift for use in the facility.
- Must complete and pass OSHAs requirements for forklift certification (powered industrial truck) training as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.178 within the required plant management timeframe (usually within 4 weeks of start date).
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems. Experience with PLC programming/troubleshooting is a plus.
- Superior problem-solving ability in a manufacturing environment analytical critical thinker and have good decision-making skills. They must be data-driven and focused on cost maintenance or reduction.
- Must demonstrate ethical behavior with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness in the position.
- Good time management skills to ensure personal and delegated responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.

Work Environment Schedule and Physical Demands:
The work environment will be a mix of office and plant floor responsibilities with a heavy/light focus on the plant floor. The Maintenance Manager will be expected to work alongside their team especially when there are coaching opportunities available or when the plant is experiencing significant operational interruptions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but we do expect members to wear issued hearing protection.
We have a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position is dictated by the need to manage and react to issues on the shifts. The planned schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7:00 AM through 4:00 PM; however the manager will often have to work an overlapping schedule to review communicate coach and train the off shifts. This position is generally on call for assistance from their team on the off shifts.
This position will require the following physical demands.
- There will be moderate lifting - up to 50 pounds
- Continually required to: lift and/or move up to 15 pounds stand for several hours at a time talk or hear work near moving mechanical parts exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather) thermal conditions may exceed outdoor air temperatures at times.
- Frequently required to: lift and/or move up to 30 pounds walk required to utilize hand and finger dexterity climb balance bend stoop kneel or crawl; exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather).
- Occasionally required to: lift and/or move 50 pounds sit work around fumes airborne particles (below permissible exposure limits) work in high precarious places exposure to outside weather conditions thermal conditions may exceed outdoor air temperatures at times.
- While performing the duties of this job the noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud at 85-100dB. Hearing protection is always required when on the plant floor.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Specialized equipment machines or vehicles used: may require the ability to operate a forklift skid steer mini excavator and aerial work platforms (Scissor Lift and Boom Lift). The company will provide equipment operator training as required for the position.
