Position Overview:PM School is a program designed to provide students of Woonsocket High School who are over-aged and under-credited with an opportunity to earn and recover the credits necessary to earn a high school diploma. Students enrolled in the PM Program have been unsuccessful in a traditional high school setting and require personalized differentiated supports for academic achievement. PM School is not an independent learning program; PM teachers are expected to plan for and provide differentiated instruction to individual or groups of students. This position requires a professional who is committed to fostering a positive inclusive and engaging learning environment that meets the diverse needs of our students. The ideal candidate will align their practice with the Rhode Island Professional Teaching Standards (RIPTS) and demonstrate a deep understanding of alternative education methodologies.Responsibilities: Instructional Planning and DeliveryDevelop and implement differentiated instructional strategies that address the individual learning needs of over-aged under-credit students and are aligned with WEDs Model of curriculum and instruction with state standards ensuring that lessons are culturally responsive and relevant to students experiences; syllabus to be shared with students at the start of each a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust instructional practices Educators will manage a student caseload and actively provide daily Engagement and MotivationCreate a supportive and motivating classroom environment that encourages student participation self-efficacy and ownership of restorative practices and social-emotional learning strategies to build strong relationships with students and address behavioral challenges technology and project-based learning to enhance student engagement and real-world application of and CommunicationCollaborate with colleagues school counselors and support staff to develop individualized learning plans for open and effective communication with students families providing regular updates on academic progress and strategies for support at home including maintaining: Accurate and timely grades; Accurate attendance records;Tracking of assignments and submitted and Ethical PracticeUphold the highest standards of professional conduct adhering to the ethical guidelines and responsibilities outlined in the a commitment to equity diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the educational in reflective practice seeking feedback and making data-driven decisions to enhance teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Education or related field; Masters degree preferred. Valid RI teaching experience working with at-risk youth and/or programming for over-age under-credited high school students is preferred. Strong understanding of adolescent development and the unique challenges faced by over-aged under-credit students. Excellent communication collaboration and classroom management to professional growth and adherence to the Rhode Island Professional Teaching Standards.
