REPORTS TO: Director of Federal Programs
DEFINITION: Under general supervision recruits interviews and qualifies potential migrant families for the Migrant Program for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. TASKS:
- Policy Reports and Data; understands all federal regulations pertaining to the Federal Programs. Enrolls eligible students into student information systems (PowerSchool COEstar MSIX) according to district and state adopted procedures.
- Student Recruitment. Implements recruitment activities as specified in the identification and recruitment plan. Recruits and interviews families with children attending school to determine eligibility for migrant program; reviews and updates information for families already designated; contacts families for eligibility interviews; conducts follow-up interviews or contacts to ensure information is correct; conducts home visits for necessary information and signatures as required.
- Works with school registrar to identify continuing and new migrant families when they register at school. Runs weekly enrollment reports to identify new families to the district. Prepares appropriate documentation of interviews; determines migrant status prepares Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for state and federal funding designations; conducts open house to answer questions and assist with processing forms. Participates in community events to disseminate information about the migrant program. Manages all data electronically (daily logs enrollment reports student counts etc.). Support Services:
- Helps organize a minimum of 4 parent meetings a year. Involves: a) parent contacts b) arrangements for topic-specific speakers c) prepare agenda parent sign-in sheets d) arrange for refreshments. Recruits eligible students pre-school-8th grade for extended day/summer programs. Connects families with community resources (i.e. food bank Good Will etc.) and transports them as needed. Attends district and/or regional training. Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of District school federal and state guidelines regulations policies and procedures governing federal programs. Knowledge of Spanish and English pronunciation grammar and usage.
- Knowledge of administrative support and record-keeping techniques.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Proficient in the use of a word processing and data management software.
- Skill in verbal and written communications.
- Skill in following oral and written instructions.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent standing walking sitting repetitive motion and vision to monitor.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent and 60 credit hours from an accredited college Associates Degree or pass Paraprofessional Exam. Must have two (2) years of administrative support experience. Must possess a valid Arizona Drivers License. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
