ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Informs patients which pharmacy department to check in with once they arrive at the pharmacy (Main Pharmacy or Refill Pharmacy).
- Greets and directs patients families and visitors utilizing public relation principles and practices when checking into the pharmacy department or over the phone.
- Answers incoming phone calls takes messages transfers calls always in a professional manner.
- Communicates with the appropriate pharmacy staff to ensure there is no delay in patient care and communicates to patients any issues that arise.
- Work as part of the pharmacy department team to ensure hospital staff and patient requests are handled in a timely manner.
- Assists patients with general clinical inquiries and forwarding more complicated questions to appropriate pharmacy personnel if needed.
- Enters in patient refill requests with appropriate information for any patient refill requests.
- Greets each staff member coming into the pharmacy and assists as appropriate or directs to another pharmacy staff member to assist.
- Keeps track of all persons entering the pharmacy and walks non-pharmacy personnel around the pharmacy to the appropriate destination.
- Maintains adequate supplies in the pharmacy rooms by restocking supplies and ensuring fill stations and counseling rooms are organized.
- Helps patients by greeting them in person or by telephone to answer questions or respond to requests and prioritizing if inquiry should be referred to a Pharmacist.
- Assists with orientation of new staff.
- Utilizes the electronic health record system Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) and Script Pro to perform daily tasks and patient intake.
- Assists promotes and supports compliance with established Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards.
- Ensures compliance with Privacy and HIPAA standards.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions Infection Control protocols and established Hand Hygiene standards.
- Completes all yearly required trainings by the indicated due dates.
- Supports and promotes unit facility and FDIHB vision and mission objectives.
- Assists in the clinical work areas as needed.
- Responsible and accountable for ensuring completion of or attendance at required annual mandatory trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
One (1) year experience in a clerical healthcare setting.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).
