REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION LEVEL: | Elementary education degree required reading endorsement preferred |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | Hand-eye mind-eye coordination. Constant hearing; intermittent speaking standing walking and writing. Frequent carrying keyboarding and other repetitive motions. |
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: | Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skills in human relations leadership and conflict management. Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated skills in the use of technology to enhance student learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Instructional Support
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to improve reading skills (phonics fluency vocabulary and comprehension).
- Deliver lessons aligned with teacher plans literacy curriculum and student reading levels.
- Use guided reading strategies sight word practice and other age-appropriate methods.
- Support students in developing confidence and motivation as readers.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Conduct informal reading assessments (e.g. fluency checks comprehension questions running records).
- Track student performance and growth using data collection tools provided by the school.
- Share progress reports with classroom teachers and/or literacy specialists.
Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers to align tutoring with classroom instruction.
- Coordinate with reading specialists interventionists and other support staff as needed.
- Provide feedback to teachers about student progress and challenges.
Student Engagement
- Encourage positive reading habits and a love of books.
- Introduce students to a variety of texts at appropriate reading levels.
- Reinforce classroom expectations for behavior respect and participation during tutoring sessions.
Preparation & Organization
- Select and prepare reading materials flashcards or activities tailored to individual students.
- Maintain records of sessions attendance and student work.
- Set up and clean up tutoring space to create a positive and distraction-free learning environment.
Professionalism
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and performance.
- Demonstrate patience empathy and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse learners.
- Attend training sessions meetings or professional development as required.
PAY INFORMATION
Starting at $30.63 per hour.
Pay Day: Last working day of each month.
HOURS & FTE
Monday through Friday 1.5 hours per day 4.5 days per week scheduled times TBD
6.75hours per week 0.16875 FTE
