Job Description

As Senior Procurement Specialist 10 Month Max Term Contract you will play a pivotal role in driving best-practice procurement strategies for high-value high-risk categories across the organization. This position focuses on fostering strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure the acquisition of goods and services is executed efficiently cost-effectively and in alignment with the strategic objectives of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

You will report directly to the Manager Procurement and Contracts within NHVRs Corporate Services Division contributing to the delivery of robust procurement outcomes that support operational excellence and regulatory effectiveness.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead end-to-end procurement processes: sourcing tendering contract negotiation supplier management.
  • Develop RFX documentation and risk strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with NHVR procurement governance act as Probity Officer.
  • Liaise with legal services for procurement matters.
  • Advise stakeholders on sourcing and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Plan and deliver procurement initiatives on time.
  • Ensure purchases meet policy cost safety and legislative standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and strategic transformation of procurement.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Extensive procurement experience in complex organisations.
  • Expertise in high-risk high-value tenders and contract management.
  • Strong supplier engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency inVendor PanelD365 and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication stakeholder management and customer service.
  • Strong project management analytical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. The NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry reduces duplication and inconsistences across state and territory borders and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.
