Job Description

Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Medicine School of Clinical Medicine(Ref.: 532219)

We now invite applications for the captioned post.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead health economic model development to analyse the cost-effectiveness cost-benefit and/or budget impacts of treatment strategies and conduct sensitivity analyses and scenario planning
  • Source appropriate epidemiological data and relevant factors as model inputs into modelling frameworks by targeted literature review and secondary data analysis
  • Perform big data-based epidemiological studies in health services and policy
  • Communicate study findings into actionable recommendations for decision makers
  • Disseminate findings via peer-reviewed scientific publications conferences and public engagement
  • Prepare grant proposals and reports
  • Provide general administrative and operational support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A Masters or Ph.D. degree preferably in health economics public health epidemiology biostatistics or related disciplines with modelling and coding exposure; candidates holding Bachelors degree may be considered as Research Assistant I/II
  • Experience in analysing large complex administrative datasets using programming languages such as R SAS Stata and Python
  • A strong quantitative background in mathematical and simulation modelling especially Markov-chain common decision-analytic model techniques and econometric analyses
  • Good knowledge in appraising designing and operating epidemiological studies
  • Good understanding in chronic diseases drug utilization and health financing system of Hong Kong
  • Passion to develop a career in health technology assessment (HTA)
  • Excellent communication skills organizational skills independent research capability and ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
  • An excellent command of written and spoken Chinese and English
  • A track record of publications especially economic evaluation; and experience in collaborating with external stakeholders would be advantageous

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or 2-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic benefits include annual leave medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
