Hiring: Accountant / Bookkeeper (Payroll Specialist Canada)
Location: Remote
Shift: Monday to Friday 6:30 PM 2:30 AM IST
Experience Required- 3-6 years of experience
Compensation: 60k-80k
Upstaff Employment Services is seeking a skilled Accountant / Bookkeeper (Payroll Specialist Canada) to provide payroll and bookkeeping support for our Canadian clients. This position requires advanced knowledge of Canadian payroll processes QuickBooks Online and compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented organized and capable of managing multiple client accounts with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process end-to-end Canadian payroll (hourly salary and contract staff) accurately and on time.
- Prepare and issue Records of Employment (ROEs) in compliance with Service Canada.
- Administer payroll deductions benefits and statutory remittances including CPP EI and federal/provincial income taxes.
- Ensure timely filing and payment of all statutory deductions and remittances.
Bookkeeping & Accounting
- Handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks Online including AR AP reconciliations and GL maintenance.
- Prepare monthly financial reports balance sheets and income statements.
- Manage client invoicing and ensure timely collections.
- Assist with year-end reconciliations and audit preparation.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and provincial labor standards.
- Prepare and file year-end slips (T4 T4A etc.).
- Support external auditors and tax advisors with accurate reporting.
- Stay up to date with changes in Canadian payroll and compliance laws.
Client & Team Support
- Serve as a point of contact for client payroll and bookkeeping inquiries.
- Recommend process improvements and financial best practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams for seamless client service delivery.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and financial data.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Canadian payroll and bookkeeping.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (certification preferred).
- Knowledge of ROEs T4/T4A statutory deductions and CRA compliance.
- Solid understanding of Canadian accounting standards and payroll legislation.
- Strong analytical organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients simultaneously.
