About the Organization:

Serving the Greater Santa Rosa community for over 75 years this nonprofit is a growing organization expanding its resources and support to youth programs throughout the North Bay. The Vice President of Development reports to the CEO serving as the lead fundraising officer overseeing growth of over $20 million annually and stewarding ongoing relationships with donors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides exceptional & results-based leadership management coordination for the organizations individual and institutional fundraising efforts and will drive acquisition and retention for all contributed revenue.
  • Plan and implement a multi-year comprehensive campaign to fund key initiatives and general operations.
  • Set campaign and annual fundraising goals in collaboration with CEO.
  • Develop & execute plans to increase support from all philanthropic sources.
  • Provide regular reports on financials fundraising activities and benchmarking metrics to CEO Executive Team and Board
  • Obtains adequate financial support and resources to meet operating and capital needs with an effort to create reserves and legacy giving.
  • Develops maintains & leads implementation of Annual Development Plan including Individual Foundation and Corporate Giving Capital Campaigns Stewardship of current donors Large Events netting
  • Manages a personal portfolio of donors and prospects with high levels of capacity and inclination.
  • Assist the CEO and Board in recruiting and developing effective Board Members who actively govern while ensuring there are sufficient resources to meet the Mission and related strategies.
  • Lead & staff key board committees as assigned. Manage all processes tools & communication for successful board engagement recruitment and assessment.
  • Work closely with the CEO & Board Executive Committee to identify and recruit new board members and engage board members with the development process through their advocacy and leveraging their personal networks.
  • Lead efforts to recruit & engage advisory board members in key communities.
  • Builds brand recognition in Bay Area by developing maintaining & leading implementation of annual Marketing plans.
  • Relationships with local media outlets and influencers for high agency coverage (including earned media & advertising)
  • Lead all aspects of mail email social media and website campaigns
  • Commits to ongoing prospect identification through analysis of donor database external philanthropic sources and identify donors.
  • Lead and manage the development team to personally engage in solicitation and stewardship activities
  • Serves as a voice for the organization and speaks credibly and persuasively about the The organizations mission values and vision.
  • Fosters a dynamic Development Team and leads them in designing and implementing a comprehensive development plan to exceed the goals of the strategic vision and annual budget.
  • Hiring retaining and nurturing a high-performing team.
  • Providing effective leadership mentoring and guidance in all fundraising activities.
  • Active participation in efforts to ensure a diverse equitable and inclusive internal culture.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited college. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience preferred in the executive management development and operations including board and fund development; demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control expenses.
  • Demonstrated ability to close million-dollar gifts.
  • Full in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience leading donor database use.
  • A minimum of 3 years working with SharePoint.
  • Full in-depth knowledge of digital marketing tools like Constant Contact Facebook Instagram etc.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.
  • Person will be of flawless integrity & will fully embody our organizational Core Values.
  • Exceptional storytelling ability with superb writing skills and proven success in narrating the history legacy and influence of an organization.
  • Group leadership skills including an understanding of group dynamics.
  • Experience working with boards of directors
  • Demonstrated organizational staff and project management abilities.
  • Vertically and horizontally nimble should be able to both drive strategy and implementation of ideas
  • Personal vehicle valid drivers license and auto insurance strongly preferred.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Sufficient strength agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position.
