Amnesty International Australia is seeking a People and Culture Manager to lead our Human Resources function. Bring your strategic HR expertise to an organisation thats deeply committed to human rights social justice and meaningful impact.

The People and Culture Manager is involved in all aspects of the Human Resources (HR) function and is responsible for providing workplace solutions in line with Amnesty International Australias vision and values. They will support managers on HR matters providing mentoring and advice on strategic aspects of an employees lifecycle and overall staff culture.

The role is involved in the continuous improvement of policies and practices ensuring that Amnesty International Australia meets its changing needs and create positive human rights change.

They are accountable for guiding best practice job design recruitment and induction for the organisation ensuring that Amnesty International Australia continues to attract and employ talented and committed individuals.

Description

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Overall management of the human resources function ensuring a best practice approach.
  • Develop and maintain annual plan budget compliance training and core processes.
  • Provide HR generalist support and advice including assisting the director in developing policy and longer term strategies and plans
  • Coach and assist in the organisations approach to performance management including supporting managers conducting counselling and support of staff
  • Provide advice and support to managers in relation to job design recruitment and onboarding. Develop managers skills in terms of identifying attracting and retaining talent. Manage processes and tools for staff recruitment including interviewing testing selection and contracting of staff.
  • Represent AIA and liaise with the union representatives on industrial relations matters.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of the Enterprise Agreement and any other industrial elements within the Australian legal context.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment law privacy EEO WHS and anti-discrimination; and ensures its application within AIA
  • Manage and implement the remuneration system including; grading of roles undertaking salary surveys and benchmarking
  • Manage AIAs Work Health and Safety consultation process workers compensation claims and reporting.
  • Advise facilitate and arrange training in accordance with organisational development needs and legislation/regulation. Manage the application of the Professional Development program.
  • Provide advice and coaching to management to ensure positive organisational behaviour and culture including conducting and analysing the annual staff survey.
  • Supporting managers with case management and advising on appropriate outcomes to grievances and complaints.
  • Assist in ensuring policies and practices lead to positive workplace diversity.
  • Manage relationships with external providers including for recruitment workplace legal advice and training.
  • Manage People and Culture Administrator
  • Performing role to a high standard within agreed timelines and in line with AIAs vision and values
  • Other tasks within your skills and competence as required


Skills And Experiences

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE:

  • Solid experience providing accurate timely and strategically aligned human resource solutions to a range of stakeholders preferably within a not-for-profit environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in human resource management or related discipline.
  • Sound working knowledge of the Australian industrial relations system including the Fair Work Act WHS legislation and other related legislation and regulations.
  • Experience in interpreting and implementing written policy and procedure.
  • Experience interpreting and working with Enterprise Agreements.
  • Understanding of workplace conflict resolution methods and experience at their application.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive internal and external relationships.
  • Strong independent work ethic with proven organisation and time management skills.
  • High level written and oral communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest ethical standards.
  • Advanced skills in all software platforms of MS Office Suite.
  • Experience using ELMO Software desired but not required.
  • Payroll administration experience required.
  • Familiarity with human rights and social change issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in or commitment to working with rights holders.
