JOCKEY CLUB CREATIVE HUB

The Jockey Club Campus of Creativity (JC3) Creative Hub is a creative venture dedicated to fostering creativity and innovation within both the university and the wider community. We emphasise industry-higher education collaboration and cross-disciplinary partnerships leveraging the potential of music-tech EdTech art-tech tech-transfer and interdisciplinary learning. With a strong emphasis on cross-cultural studies and research in creativity and pedagogy the Creative Hub is at the forefront of enhancing educational experiences and cultivating a vibrant creative ecosystem in Hong Kong.

The University is inviting applications for this position to focus on the high-level administrative and technical aspects of the studio complex for the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity (JC3) project.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in aligning the studios technical capabilities with academic and strategic goals;
  • Support the technical direction for the studio complex staying informed about current recording and production technology trends;
  • Maintain studio equipment and troubleshoot issues;
  • Collaborate with artists and producers to achieve desired sound;
  • Help establish and maintain technical standards and policies to ensure high-quality output and efficient operations;
  • Assist in managing the budget for technical expenditures;
  • Collaborate with senior staff in mentoring and guiding junior technical team members;
  • Build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and industry experts to stay updated on the latest trends;
  • Overseeing inventory and facilities management; and
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in audio engineering recording/mixing engineering or a related field;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 solid years of experience in a studio environment with a good understanding of technical management and project support;
  • Familiarity with high-end recording studio equipment such as SSL and Neve consoles Avid HDX Systems and various outboard gear;
  • Proficiency in current studio technologies trends and techniques. Experience with audio-visual systems like Meyer Sound systems Analogway Picturall Twin Liantronics LED Display Wall and Panasonic projectors;
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to team development;
  • Good communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for maintaining studio equipment and ability to collaborate effectively with artists and producers;
  • Hands-on experience in setting up mixing and mastering recordings; and
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test/presentation.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two year. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
