Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are currently seeking a Senior Advisor Stakeholder Relations to join our Stakeholder Relations office within our Community Communications & Stakeholder Relations division. The Senior Advisor will build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and internal Metrolinx teams enabling collaboration information-sharing and problem solving to support the successful implementation of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).
What will I be doing
- Support the Senior Manager Stakeholder Relations in developing high-quality briefing materials correspondence and reports for executives and elected officials ensuring accuracy clarity and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Establish Metrolinx presence at key stakeholder events and identify new engagement opportunities.
- Analyze complex stakeholder and political environments advising on strategies to strengthen relationships and mitigate risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders fostering collaboration and open communication.
- Lead the planning and execution of events tours and thought leadership initiatives to enhance engagement.
- Represent Metrolinx at external meetings events and consultations to promote organizational initiatives.
- Develop subject matter expertise and translate complex information into materials appropriate for stakeholder audiences.
- Track and analyze stakeholder feedback to inform continuous improvement in engagement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate stakeholder perspectives into project planning delivery and policy.
- Support and mentor colleagues in stakeholder engagement practices to build organizational capacity.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a diploma or degree in Communications Community/ Public Relations Political Science or a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in relationship building stakeholder management and planning.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; the ability to translate technical and complex information into clear concise and engaging content.
- Ability to build and maintain meaningful and productive cross-functional relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to build consensus or influence decisions.
- A meticulous eye for detail excellent time management and organizational skills and strong judgment and political acuity.
- Project management experience to lead manage and monitor simultaneous projects to tight deadlines and monitor project performance results. Experience with project management tools such as Asana is considered an asset.
- Diplomacy skills and experience with negotiation and consensus building.
- Experience in event planning coordinating logistics or working within a government agency is considered an asset.
- Experience leading large-scale events forums or stakeholder engagement initiatives is an asset.
