Public policy and legislative process expertise needed:
With your extensive knowledge of public policy issues youll manage the preparation of responses to questions in parliament and notes for senior executives in federal departments and agencies. Youll also work with counterparts in the ministers and members offices and with parliamentary and senate committees.
What youll do:
- Develop and implement an effective government relations strategy
- Advise FCC senior leaders on optimizing relations with the federal government
- Recommend strategies for dealing with public policy issues
- Prepare briefing notes for FCC senior leaders and the Board
- Liaise with colleagues on messaging for special interest groups and other stakeholders
- Oversee the management of the customer complaint process
- Respond to requests for information
What were looking for:
- Strong communicator experienced in advising senior leaders
- Creative negotiator who enjoys finding resolutions to customer complaints
- Strategic relationship-builder and team player
- Critical thinker with sound judgment and solid decision-making abilities
- Proven influencer with demonstrated negotiation skills
What youll need:
- A bachelors degree in a relevant field (for example business administration political science public management or public administration) and at least 10 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Extensive functional knowledge of public policy issues government parliamentary and legislative processes and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of FCCs policies legislation stakeholders and history and of the agriculture industry
- Advanced proficiency in both official languages (English and French) needed
