Meet the Team
The Preply Engineering Team provides the tools to help unlock human potential through learning.
We work primarily with Python/Django to build scalable and robust applications. We implement A/B tests to prove the value of our initiatives and improve our product based on data and students and tutors feedback. As part of our commitment to ensuring high-quality products we prioritize monitoring and metrics analysis to identify areas for optimization and ensure our services are performing at their best.
At Preply we release our product 50-60 times per day by leveraging top-notch CI/CD processes. As a fast-growing company we have diverse technical challenges (sometimes we even write about them on our Engineering Blog) that will allow you to develop your skills at scale.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our mission-critical Communications Team responsible for Classroom and Chat two essential components of the Preply learning experience. Classroom is our video platform that enables seamless live learning experiences for tutors and students. This platform is at the heart of our service supporting over 2 million live classes every month and ensuring a smooth and integrated learning experience. Chat serves as a reliable and intuitive communication tool that connects tutors and students throughout their learning journey. Integrated into the Classroom it facilitates meaningful interactions and supports over 1 million monthly active users.

What youll be doing:
- Lead coach and grow a team of diverse and talented engineers always looking for opportunities to improve performance and results.
- Set the vision for the team and create and nurture a culture of high performance.
- Identifying opportunities of high-ROI projects aligning and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver on these projects.
- Elevate the stability and capabilities of Classroom and Chat to ensure an effective and uninterrupted learning engineering quality and efficiency (e.g. improve workflow code review etc.).
- Drive a culture of innovation fostering the adoption of AI tools and seeking opportunities to integrate Preplys AI products with the Classroom
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the whole company such as Product Marketing Engineering and Design.
What you need to succeed
- Background: Degree in computer science data science mathematics or a related field
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in building leading and scaling development teams
- People-Centric Approach and Team BuildingSkills: Were looking for a person with a passion for building strong results-oriented teams and who views a team as a primarymeans of achieving results.
- Provide technical expertise: Driving engineering best practices adoption of tools and alignment with architectural standards. Understanding of the WebRTC protocol and experience with real-time communication platforms would be an advantag.e
- Results-Oriented: Driving performance. Motivate the team on setting and achieving ambitious business-focused focused and measurable goals.
- Ethical Leadership: Lead the team by example demonstrating unwavering commitment to ethical behavior and integrity. Being a moral compass of a team instill a culture that values honesty fairness and transparency in all engineering endeavors.
