Job Description

Calpine Corporation is Americas largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources with operations in competitive power markets. Responsible for providing information and insights regarding customers markets competitors and campaign effectiveness to measure performance and support business decisions. Will conduct market research to analyze competitors; determine brand perceptions evaluate market penetration and understand customer needs. Responsible for analyzing marketing metrics to identify cause-effect relationships between marketing actions and financial outcomes to increase profitability. Manage continued development of underlying models and data used to generate risk information and Play a central role in the companys upcoming development project by specifying process requirements modeling approaches and report contents.

Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following other duties may be assigned)

Responsible for assisting in the strategic origination and development activities including all aspects of power generation project development. Will be responsible for identifying developing implementing and closing structured transactions relating to the purchase and sale of complex and strategic customers/prospects for power and natural gas related products and services. Support negotiation of master trading and transportation agreements with target customers. Implement market penetration strategies focused on power plant development strategies and help develop customer value propositions.

Work closely with all levels in the organization to help manage negotiate and execute various agreements. Will be responsible for leading the development and origination process from start to finish including responding to RFPs contract negotiations and internal approval processes. Responsible for establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships with potential customers including utilities municipals cooperatives corporate and industrial buyers retail aggregators and other wholesale customers. Work with internal teams to develop solutions to deliver thermal and renewable products to customers. Track regional market dynamics and provide regular feedback to the Development team about new opportunities and locations for project development. Perform regional market and competitive analysis as requested.

Contribute to the development of new and existing products and services to increase market presence and meet customer demands including collaborating with related areas such as Risk Management Asset Optimization and Business Development. Actively support a variety of new generation project developments and existing project expansions regarding power offtake agreements fuel supply and fuel transportation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop implement and manage project development processes to provide cross functional coordination across scheduling contracting and budgets.
  • Generate project management support to development leads to ensure compliance with the process implemented across the development team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends regulations and innovations to identify new opportunities for project development optimization.
  • Foster relationships with external partners stakeholders and communities to ensure smooth project acquisition development transition and operations.
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of potential sites for power generation projects considering factors such as resource availability environmental impact and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead feasibility studies to assess the technical financial and environmental viability of proposed projects.
  • Assist in securing the required permits licenses and approvals from regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage project budgets ensuring cost-effective execution without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering procurement and construction teams to ensure seamless project implementation.
  • Monitor project progress identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure projects stay on track.

Job Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of power markets robust analytical skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently to identify and market to potential customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to cultivate business and personal relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work across cross-functional internal teams.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills and able to present to management and clients.

Job Scope and Span of Control

  • Accomplishes work through others. Managessingle function or portion of a departmentwith an operational focus.
  • Ensure proper modeling of generation assets as well as a broad array of third party contracts.
  • Manages employees performing related duties including full human resources cost and budgetary accountabilities.
  • Build feedback loops with accounting actuals to improve plant and contract modeling.
  • Work with IT organization to improve the underlying risk system infrastructure.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Marketing Business or Accounting.
  • Previous work leadership or senior level contributor experience.
  • Requires minimum of 10 years in area of specialization.
