You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Communications and Public Involvement Director leads the ADOTs Communications and Public Involvement groups; including public information internal communications employee engagement and recognition community relations major projects creative services and digital communications. Directs the operations of a high volume communications division; such as the development of work plans for public information programs creative campaigns media strategy project public involvement community outreach and internal communication and engagement campaigns for ADOT employees. Develops performance standards and reports measurable activities and accomplishments in accordance with an annual work plan. This position supervises managers and staff by directing coaching and evaluating performance including strategic planning and goals performance management leadership development and employee professional development.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Provide senior leadership to the Communications and Public Involvement group including public information internal communications employee engagement and recognition community relations major projects creative services and digital communications to meet ADOTs communication goals and objectives in coordination with ADOT leadership.
Provide high-level guidance and strategy of key messaging for the purpose of responding to media and public inquiries. Work with ADOT staff to develop messages and communication strategies for key issues facing the Department or Administration. Act as lead communications liaison with the Governors communications team.
Serve as the primary communications stakeholder for all divisions and groups within the Department. Establish and maintain regular and proactive communications among the divisions and groups within ADOT to respond to media inquiries and internal communications research ongoing projects oversee campaign development engage the public and employees and stay informed of ADOT activities and issues.

Five (5) years of experience in journalism media relations public information and/or public relation.
Experience leading a team in public relations/public information environment.
Bachelors degree in Journalism broadcast journalism communications or a closely related field: advanced degree in a related field of study.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
