Orthopedic Trauma APP Job Responsibilities:
The Orthopedic Trauma Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as a key member of the orthopedic trauma team providing comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal injuries. The APP will collaborate with attending orthopedic surgeons residents nurses and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient-centered care across the continuum including the emergency department operating room inpatient units and outpatient clinics.
- Responding to full/modified trauma activations with known orthopedic injuries
- Perform comprehensive orthopedic assessments including history physical exams and diagnostic interpretation.
- First-assist in the operating room and perform orthopedic procedures (e.g. reductions traction pins casting splinting bedside I&Ds when needed and wound care).
- Respond to consults develop treatment plans and coordinate care in collaboration with the orthopedic team within appropriate time frames
- Document care in the EMR complete inpatient discharges and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Participate in daily rounds trauma meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Educate patients families and support training of residents or students as needed.
- Maintain licensure certifications and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in fracture conferences M&M presentations journal clubs and research sessions along residents and attendings
- Primarily inpatient coverage with limited outpatient coverage of clinic
Orthopedic Trauma APP Additional Requirements:
- Work Schedule:Full-Time 4 days per week 10 hour shifts
- Education:Masters Degree and Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
- Certification:Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification) BLS Virginia License Viginia DEA.
