The Researcher AgNRM provides technical leadership in sustainable agriculture natural resource management and climate change across IIRRs thematic programs. The role supports project development research training and capacity-building initiatives. The Researcher AgNRM also contributes to education communication and youth-focused activities requiring AgNRM expertise.
Working closely with program teams the Researcher AgNRM helps identify learning agendas and action research opportunities and supports the implementation of planning monitoring evaluation and learning (PMEL) systems. This position reports to the Director Regional Center for Asia.
Lead the design and integration of new AgNRMinitiatives within IIRRs three thematic program areas including projects international and customized training courses and technical missions.
Promote synergy between AgNRMand other focus areas such as livelihoods disaster risk reduction health gender and institutional capacity development.
Build and maintain partnerships with regional international and local organizations involved in AgNRM.
Manage and facilitate international training courses and study programs and identify opportunities for new trainings in coordination with staff.
Identify and implement relevant action research initiatives in line with IIRRs strategic program goals.
Support the development and application of PMEL systems at project and program levels.
Contribute to resource mobilization through concept notes project proposals and other fundraising tools.
Represent IIRR in engagements with partners donors and other external stakeholders.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in agriculture natural resource management climate change or a related field; a masters degree is preferred.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in AgNRM and climate change programming including planning monitoring and evaluation within rural development contexts.
Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal); knowledge of an Asian language is an asset.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with action research and participatory planning monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
