Job Description

The organisation

Tasc (Legal and Social Justice Services) provides free legal social work and advocacy services across the Greater South-West Queensland region. With offices in Toowoomba Ipswich Goondiwindi Roma Hervey Bay and Gympie we work to positively impact the communities we serve via an accessible inclusive and values-based framework. Our multidisciplinary model of service delivery aims to create the best client experience and outcomes.

The Position

Based in Toowoomba with regular regional travel theEducation Engagement & Law Reform Officerplays a key role in improving access to justice through community education engagement and systemic advocacy. Working closely with the legal team other program leads and community partners you will:

  • Coordinate the delivery of community legal education (CLE) and non-legal education activities across all funded programs
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders and community groups
  • Lead law reform initiatives that reflect Tascs values and the lived experiences of our priority communities
  • Assist in developing accurate up-to-date education materials plan and facilitate workshops and outreach activities
  • Centrally coordinate the creation of submissions for law reform and systemic advocacy
  • Identify new opportunities for education and engagement across the region

This role involves regular travel to Ipswich and remote offices to build relationships and support the delivery of activities. It is currently classified atSCHADS Level 3-4 depending on qualifications and experience.

The Person

You are passionate about community-led change and thrive in collaborative environments. Ideally you will have or be studying towards qualifications in law policy communications or a related discipline and bring:

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • A passion for advocacy education and systemic reform
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • A commitment to trauma-informed culturally safe and client-centred practice
  • Willingness to travel within the region to support outreach and engagement

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience in community legal education stakeholder engagement or policy development
  • Familiarity with law reform processes and systemic advocacy
  • Qualifications or experience in community development social justice or human services
