Job Description

Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Advancement & Diversity)

  • Senior Academic Leadership appointment
  • Full-time appointment on a three-year fixed term basis
  • Secondment opportunity from current substantive UWA role

The role of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Advancement & Diversity) at UWA presents an exciting opportunity to develop initiatives that strengthen the academy including providing direction support meaningful engagement and education to foster a diverse and inclusive working community and a culture aligned with the UWA values of Excellence Integrity Innovation Collaboration Equity.

You will be a collaborative and visionary leader with a strong track record in driving key initiatives in academic workforce planning leadership performance workload and career development while championing diversity equity and inclusion (DEI). You will lead the Universitys DEI strategy including the Athena Swan initiative and deliver on workforce DEI goals through the analysis and improvement of policies processes and practices relating to promotions sabbaticals workload models performance frameworks and academic development programs. Through these initiatives you will play a pivotal role in advancing the Universitys strategic goals and creating a supportive inclusive and high-performing academic environment.

To succeed in this role you will bring proven leadership experience with demonstrated impact and the ability to work collaboratively with senior academic and professional leaders. You will have a strong track record in developing and implementing transformative DEI initiatives and fostering an inclusive workplace environment and bring your ability to apply data-driven approaches to the development and monitoring of strategic action plans combined with experience in training and mentoring academic staff. You will also demonstrate the capacity to work closely with People and Culture and other stakeholders to implement effective procedures for staff disclosures and training programs.
