The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine(CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage operate and maintain the CMHHK.
The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care ranging from primary secondary to tertiary services and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient day-patient and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.
With a view to prioritising education training innovation and research including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.
Physiotherapist I ()
Responsibilities:
To deliver physiotherapy interventions and provide supervision to support departmental operations. Act as the team coordinator to ensure continuous service quality at the department.
Patient Care
- Oversee and ensure the timely and effective delivery of physiotherapy services;
- Serve as a clinical expert in the specialty providing guidance and advice on advanced treatment protocols and interventions; and
- Promote the development and implementation of the latest physiotherapy techniques.
Resource Management
- Develop a specialty profile based on the best available clinical practices and postgraduate training;
- Encourage ongoing professional development to incorporate new knowledge skills and techniques enhancing training and management capabilities;
- Organise and conduct interdisciplinary or service-specific training to address specialised knowledge and skills;
- Provide direct coaching in the clinical management of complex cases;
- Share updated specialised knowledge skills and management practices with team members;
- Support daily rehabilitation service including Saturday Sunday and public holidays; and
- 5-day working pattern with flexi-hour and/or shift duty (except night shift) is required.
Quality & Risk Management
- Assist in the development of treatment protocols and guidelines to ensure best practices and safe delivery of physiotherapy services;
- Support quality improvement activities to meet departmental objectives and service needs;
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements professional standards policies procedures and practice standards;
- Act as a functional head for the specialty monitoring daily operations and team productivity;
- Collect organise and evaluate clinical information to enhance patient care service efficiency and clinical research;
- Identify and optimise the use of available resources to achieve departmental objectives and goals;
- Assist Senior Physiotherapist (SPT) in managing resources including manpower planning equipment maintenance inventory and recurrent budgeting; and
- Serve as an expert and advisor in the specialtys development at the departmental level.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrate and coach professional and ethical conduct in all job-related activities;
- Lead the team in establishing rapport and collaboration with other disciplines to ensure quality patient care;
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based practices for clinical research and service improvement;
- Support team members with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills; and
- Ensure effective communication within and between teams.
Training & Development

- Educate physiotherapy students in the related clinical specialty when necessary.
Requirements:
Basic Requirements
- Registered as a Physiotherapist in Part I of the Register of Physiotherapists under the Supplementary Medical Professions Ordinance;
- Possess a valid Practicing Certificate issued by the Physiotherapists Board Hong Kong;
- Have at least 3 years of experience practicing as a Physiotherapist; and
- Possess relevant postgraduate experience in the specialised clinical area required for the position.
Preferable Attributes / Exposure
- Hold a relevant masters degree;
- Contribute to professional training research teaching and development activities;
- Be fluent in written English and Chinese as well as spoken English and Cantonese;
- Have experience in one or more rehabilitation specialties;
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient care;
- Possess strong interpersonal skills;
- Have excellent communication skills;
- Show empathy towards patients; and
- Exhibit leadership qualities.
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract by Hong Kong Baptist University. Following the commencement of CMH and subject to the candidates satisfactory performance and the decision of CMH subsequent appointment will be offered directly by CMH.
Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
