About The Work Unit:
The Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) seeks to advance environmental justice in Colorado and implement statutory environmental justice mandates including specific benchmarks and targets established by the Environmental Justice Act. We work in partnership with disproportionately impacted communities (DI communities); the Environmental Justice Advisory Board (EJAB); other federal state local and tribal government partners; and offices and divisions with CDPHE. Our role includes meaningful engagement of DI communities; administering the Environmental Justice Grants Program and Supplemental Environmental Projects; partnering with the Water Quality Control Division to implement the Mobile Home Water Quality Act; providing high-quality spatial analysis and mapping through Enviroscreen and the DI Communities Map; and facilitating Environmental Equity and Cumulative Impact Analysis.
The purpose of this position is to support the Office of Environmental Justice by employing best practices to effectively engage with disproportionately impacted communities across Colorado. This positions duties include:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in communications community outreach or engagement health education or environmental education social work or public administration.
A combination of related education in Public Administration Public Policy Sociology Social Work Communications Public Health Environmental Science Environmental Studies Environmental Policy and/or relevant experience in professional communications community outreach or engagement health education or environmental education social work or public administration experience equal to six (6) years.

Experience working with diverse colleagues stakeholders and community members with a wide range of backgrounds and identities in pursuit of common goals.
Experience working with communities in Colorado that are disproportionately impacted by environmental or public health issues.
Experience developing community outreach or engagement plans or organizing outreach or communications campaigns.
Experience planning inclusive and culturally responsive community events.
Experience understanding explaining and presenting technical information like research finds regulations and statutes to diverse audiences.
Experience engaging diverse stakeholders through consensus-building facilitation of stakeholder processes public speaking and/or training.
Bilingual English/Spanish speaking candidates preferred.
Conditions of Employment:
