Job Description
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for one or more 3-year position as an Assistant Professorin the area ofenergy storage with a strong interest in AI battery technology industrial applications and cooperation for the campus in Snderborg. The position is located at the Centre for Industrial Electronics (CIE) in Snderborg. The starting date is December 1 2025.
Snderborg is an international campus with students from more than 60 nationalities. The Faculty of Engineering is represented by the Institute of mechanical and electrical engineering (IME).CIE is embedded in a powerhouse in electronics which includes researchers and developers at universities and industries on both sides of the Danish-German border. CIE is an initiative striving for high quality and great impact of its research innovation and education. Central to achieving this objective is access to state-of-the-art facilities and close collaborations with industries.
The task portfolio of the Postdoc will be linked to two main projects and several smaller projects within CIE.
The aim of the position is to build strong knowledge and competencies within the field of battery technology and machine learning.
Job description
- Conducting research in the field of electrical engineering with a focus on battery technology and machine learning.
- Planning execution and documentation of projects with industrial partners.
- You will be involved in the daily supervision of PhD Master and Bachelor students that perform research on similar topics.
- You will publish and present your work both at international conferences and in scientific journals with high impact.
- You will assist in teaching activities.
Profile and requirement
- You have a PhD degree in Electric Engineering or related fields.
- You have published in high-impact conferences and journals in related fields.
- You are a team player and have strong communication skills.
- You are interested in a longer-term commitment in a growing research group and you are willing to work in close cooperation with industry.
- You are fluent in English both spoken and written.
- A track record in participating in national and/or European research projects is a plus.
- You have experience in one or more of the following fields:
- Battery analytics and modeling
- Battery testing from cell to pack level
- Practical experience in laboratory testing
- Machine learning / Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Simulation in MATLAB Simulink or similar tools
- Python-based programming for automated lab testing systems

Conditions of employment
Appointment as assistant professor is temporary and for an initial 3-year period.
Employment as an assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at minimum PhD level at the time of employment. During employment the assistant professor will complete theLecturer Training Programme. Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state with the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for assistant professor as described herein.Further information on salary and employed in the position may based on a specific individual managerial evaluation be exempted from time registration also known as a self-organizer.
