The expected salary for this position is CAN$75000 per annum. The Faculty of Medicine is committed to offering equitable and competitive salaries commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

The Centre for Blood Research Laboratory affiliated with the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Canadian Blood Services is seeking a full time (1.0 FTE) Postdoctoral Research Fellow to investigate novel haemostasis biochemistry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the laboratory Principal Investigator Dr. Ed Pryzdial the incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Determining physiological and viral coagulation cofactor/enzyme/substrate complex 3-dimensional structures in collaboration.

  • Produce and purify functional recombinant proteins

  • Assemble purify and analyse the respective protein complexes

  • Assist in the analysis of structural data obtained by cryo-electron microscopy

  • Producing innovative recombinant thrombolytic proteins.

  • Generate stably transfected cell lines

  • Produce and purify functional recombinant proteins

  • Evaluate novel protein in vitro and in vivo thrombolytic function

  • Participating in laboratory business.

  • Assist in writing publications and grant applications

  • Contribute to team meetings/discussions

  • Read and critique relevant literature

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful applicants will have:

  • A PhD in biochemistry haemostasis virology and/or structural biology within the past 5 years.

  • Authorship on peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills.

  • Peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journalsWillingness to respect diverse perspectives including perspectives in conflict with ones own.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing ones own awareness knowledge and skills related to equity diversity and inclusion.
