Job Description

Join Our Team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Nanyang Technological University Singapore

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography computing business and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics including quantum information condensed matter physics biophysics and photonics. Over the years SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Assoc. Prof. Elbert Chia at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to a project focused on performing terahertz spectroscopy (steady-state and time-resolved) measurements of topological and solar cell materials in both transmission and reflection geometry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation maintenance and modification of scientific equipment in Prof. Chias laboratory

  • Management of project issues including related paperwork

  • Material characterization and measurements in optical and terahertz range

  • Preparation of scientific publications

Job Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in physics is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated strong experimental skills. Previous experience in time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy is mandatory.

  • Demonstrated ability to publish high-tier research publications.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including scientific writing).

  • Ability to work independently but also to work as part of a team e.g. collaborating with the group members as well as researchers from other labs.
