Professor, Honours Bachelor of Science - Osteopathy (Part-Time Temporary)

Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the School of Applied Healths Honours Bachelor of Science Osteopathy program. The School of Applied Health seeks multiple part-time professors to teach the Structure and Function 4 and 5 Visceral 1 and 2:

• Visceral 1: Abdominal and pelvic viscera (liver spleen stomach intestines bladder reproductive organs etc.)
• Visceral 2: Thoracic viscera (heart lungs great vessels other structures within the thoracic cavity such as trachea bronchi esophagus within thorax).

In these courses learners identify and discuss the detailed anatomy and structure of these two viscera as well as the associated anatomical restrictions as they relate to osteopathic principles.
Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds experiences and individual learning styles.

What Youll Be Doing

• Delivering course curriculum in the classroom and/or online according to evidence and theory-based teaching and learning principles and in accordance with Sheridan Policies and Procedures;
• Engaging students in meaningful and student-centered academic experiences while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students work within assigned courses;
• Tutoring and academic counselling of students while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students work within assigned courses;
• Attending periodic faculty meetings
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

The successful candidatemust also meet the following qualifications:

• Graduated from a national or international Osteopathy Institution/College of Osteopathy;
• Preference will be given to individuals who hold a PhD in a related field or an MSc in the field of Osteopathy or a related field;
• Hold Osteopathic Manual Practitioner/Therapist or Osteopath designation;
• Member in good standing with the Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners or Ontario Osteopathic Association;
• Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary or clinical level (lecture lab or clinical supervision) considered an asset;
• Experience with curriculum development assessment and integration of competency-based education is an asset;
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and maintaining current knowledge of the field;
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills;
• Proficiency with educational technologies and simulation-based learning;
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry;
• Formal studies in adult or higher education are an asset;
• Proficiency in computer software packages such as Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel;
• Ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students;
• Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.
