A Brief Overview
Under the supervision of the Mammography Technical Supervisor the Lead Mammography Technologist is responsible for workflow of technical and ancillary personnel in assigned work areas. Troubleshoots equipment records and reports problems. Communicates with supervisor any unresolved issues. Responsible for completing QC tests on daily weekly monthly and quarterly basis. Produces quality images following established departmental and QA protocols using independent judgment and initiative. Covers for the supervisor during the absence. Ability to perform general and specialized mammographic procedures which meet the departments standard of quality. Capable of organizing work priorities and adjusting as circumstances require. Performs related duties as requested. Treats patients staff physicians and the general public in a friendly courteous and helpful manner. Incorporates the concepts of the Mission and Vision into practice.

What you will do




  • Oversees work flow work assignments operational effectiveness human resources and the resolution of technical and non-technical problems for an assigned shift. Participates in orientation and training of assigned staff students residents and faculty.
  • Performs various simple to complex radiographic procedures. Performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated portions of the body. Duties include transferal of images archiving and performing of appropriate imaging protocols which meet the departments standards of quality.
  • Troubleshoots reboots calls help line calls service and/or involves other individuals as appropriate for equipment maintenance.
  • Reports problems concerning staffing requirements work methods staff morale etc. and recommends solutions as appropriate to supervisor. Coordinates with personnel of other departments with regard to patient and/or staff related problems.
  • Ensures that equipment and accessories are maintained and functioning. Notifies supervisor of equipment problems and service calls placed. Notifies appropriate personnel of supply requirements; makes recommendations concerning the purchase maintenance and/or repair of equipment.
  • Manages information utilizing appropriate manual or electronic system.
  • Ensures timecards are completed accurately and on time according to departmental and hospital policy.
  • Keeps abreast and demonstrates awareness of legal requirements risk management issues and accreditation standards by reporting unusual occurrences involving customers environment and/or self within correct timeframes and involves the appropriate individuals and/or completes necessary forms (incident/ employee accident report etc.)
  • Responsible for completing QC tests on daily weekly monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Understands billing process; assures correct informational codes are included for procedures and exams performed.


Education Qualifications

  • Associate degree


Experience Qualifications

  • 5 years of mammography technical skills and 1 year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience


Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Imaging processes methods and equipment
  • Knowledge of safe operation and care of radiographic equipment
  • Knowledge of structural and organic anatomy
  • Knowledge of the methods of positioning patients for radiographic exposures
  • Knowledge of principles of image acquiring and processing
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills
  • Ability to perform complex diagnostic imaging procedures
  • Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic procedures which meet the departments standard of quality
  • Ability to troubleshoot document and communicate equipment problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients co-workers and visitors
  • Ability to deal tactfully and sympathetically with patients
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others
  • Ability to work well in a team environment


Licenses and Certifications

  • CRT
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • VEN (highly preferred)

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $72.25 - $81.35 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
