Job Description

Federal Signal has an immediate opening for a HR Specialist I at its University Park IL facility. This position is responsible for providing administrative and functional support for routine HR tasks.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • HR Records Management:
    • Develop and manage HR databases and data integrity (discipline probationary reports training job bidding hourly moves
    • Creates records and maintains UltiPro database
    • Process new hires and terminations
    • Maintain employment records and files
    • Process market adjustments promotions and transfers for hourly and salaried employees
    • Manage the Hourly Probationary program
  • Recruitment:
    • Supports the hourly internal job posting / bidding process
    • Coordinates phone interviews and on-site interviews
    • Arranges travel and reimbursement for external candidates
    • Assists HR team with extending offers and completing pre-hire employment checks
  • Onboarding:
    • Leads new employee orientation in partnership with Safety and Quality
    • Creates new hire employee file and maintains all relevant documents
  • Employee Engagement:
    • Coordinates HR sponsored employee events
  • Responsible for managing and communicating all FMLA and short-term disability leaves
  • Coordinate meetings and conferences
  • Assist with the rollout of new HR Policies
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Other duties as required

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management or related field required
  • Minimum 1 year of HR experience preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of Kronos and UltiPro helpful
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organization and customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively multitask on competing priorities
  • Ability to apply sound reasoning and judgement
  • Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and high motivation
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in an ever-changing fast paced environment

Anticipated Annual Salary: $44311 - $63302 annual bonus
