Description
Position Summary:
The Parent Educator is responsible for the implementation of family-centered home-bases services using a model assessments planning and referrals of families to community partners and agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide family-centered home-based services
- Conduct the enrollment service planning and implementation of the Parents as Teachers Curriculum focusing on strengths and areas of concern.
- Conduct home-visits addressing specific goals in the family service plan; conduct developmental screenings; make referrals and establish connections to other community resources identified in the service plan; facilitate educational groups.
- Document services provided to the family and submit required paperwork in a timely well-organized fashion.
- Participate in PAT staff meetings multi-disciplinary team meetings and other meetings as required.
- Participate in community events and recruitment events
- Follow agency policies regarding confidentiality and other consumer rights
- Maintain flexible hours and schedule visits according to families needs while not exceeding the 40-hour work week and in adherence with scheduling requirements
- Represent the agency in a professional manner within the community
- Work well with other agencies personnel
- Requires working flexible hours as determined by the agency including some evenings a month and occasionally on weekends
- Requires extensive travel in the community and working in clients homes
- Requires ability to tolerate exposure to tobacco smoke domestic animals household pests and other conditions common to a variety of home environments
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
This position normally requires the physical demands of sitting standing walking bending lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion talking hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time.
Non-Physical Requirements:
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences Preferred
- Associates Degree Required
Experience
- 2 years experience working with parents and young children with Bachelors Degree
- 5 years experience working with parents and young children with Associates Degree or equivalent
Special Skills
- Knowledge of child development a range of child rearing practices and issues
- Knowledge of community resources
- Knowledge of appropriate use of screening materials
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Possess good data management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Word and Excel
- Aptitude for learning new software programs and technology
- Maintain confidentiality according to professional standards
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) Required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English/Spanish preferred
- Ability to provide culturally relevant services
- Value all people their family culture heritage language and beliefs
Licensure Registration Certification
- First Aid/CPR certification required
- Food Handlers Card required
- Valid Washington State drivers license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
- Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities liability insurance provider
Employment is conditional upon:
- Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
Wage Range: $21 to $28 hourly depending on level of education and experience
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm
