We are seeking a Head of APM Terminals Business System (ABS) Academy to lead the design development and expansion of our Lean-based business this pivotal role you will build on a strong foundation of training programs to further deepen systems thinking and develop goal-oriented deployment frameworks. Your mission is to develop a global learning & development system that enables sustainable and actionable Lean competencies at all levels empowering every employee to become a Lean practitioner cultivating tool-specific Lean experts and enabling leaders to become Lean leaders.

You will architect and operationalize a holistic Lean business system encompassing principles standards methods tools and deployment frameworks alongside impactful Lean Leadership coaching programs. Your work will embed Lean Thinking into our corporate DNA and create a sustainable system that delivers lasting business impact.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing modern learning programs improving and operationalizing Lean -depth knowledge of the Danaher Business System or similar systems is highly desirable.

The APMT Business System is integral to our daily operations reflecting our continuous commitment to investing in our employees development leveraging all minds within the organization and embedding Lean Thinking into our corporate DNA and culture. Location: The Hague Netherlands (Travel might be required up to 25 %)

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design development and expansion of our Lean-based business system its learning & development programs aligned with organizational goals.

Build and enhance deployment frameworks that secure effective implementation across the organization and develop appropriate implementation capabilities at all levels.

Develop tailored learning journeys for different audiences to strengthen Lean expertise and maturity thereby fostering Lean self-sufficiency and world-class Lean leadership throughout the organization.

Promote Lean behaviours and high-quality Problem-Solving mindset by developing business problem solvers across the organization.

Establish a continuous feedback loop to capture the Voice of the Customer and evolve the APMT Business System accordingly.

Set up a coherent benchmarking process to measure Lean maturity and ensure we remain at the forefront of Lean innovation.

Define and implement effective communication plan and best-practice sharing mechanism to scale success stories and knowledge across global organization.

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Proven leadership experience in a top-tier Operational Excellence or Lean organization with a track record of driving significant improvements.

  • Deep practical knowledge of Lean tools and systems (e.g. Problem Solving Kaizen Daily Management & Visual Management VSM TPI Standard Work 5S VOC Hoshin Kanri Growth Tools etc.).

  • Experience designing and deploying business systems such as the Danaher Business Systems or similar.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable learning programs and deployment strategies.

  • Strong analytical skills using data to drive decision-making.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest Lean methodologies and industry trends.

  • Ability to create excitement around Lean fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Experience in collaborating across different cultures and functions in a global environment demonstrating cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

  • Commitment to strictly ethical conduct ensuring integrity.

  • Excellent communication and coaching skills with the ability to influence on all levels.

  • Ability to lead and achieve change management without formal authority inspiring others to embrace Lean principles.

  • Recognized as a trusted partner and inspiring leader who others enjoy learning from and working with.

  • Self-motivated and always strive for excellence and exceeding expectations.

  • Lean certifications from authoritative institutions or recognized Lean benchmarking companies are a plus.

REPORTING AND SCOPE:

  • The reporting line will be to the Head of APM Terminals Business System

  • Scope of the role is the global responsibility of the ABS Academy and capability development across the APM Terminals network.
