Job Description
INSTITUTEFORINNOVATIONTRANSLATIONANDPOLICYRESEARCH
The Institute for Innovation Translation and Policy Research (ITPR) is set out with the vision to support the University in pioneering innovation technology translation and innovation policy development. With the mission to drive strategic alliances collaborations multidisciplinary research and development and their applications ITPR consists of three sections namely Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Technology Translation (TT) and Policy Research (PR) which will provide all-rounded business development scientific and policy research support for the University to respond to the challenges and opportunities worldwide and also specifically under the aegis of the Hong Kong SAR Governments top policy priority on innovation and technology development.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator or his/her delegate the candidate willbe stationedat a newly established laboratory located at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks andbe responsible for developing biomedical systems from concept through to final product. The system will be designed to capture high-quality health metrics and integrate with AI solutions. The engineer will ensure the product is well-designed automated and capable of integrating with advanced technologies for application and further enhancements.
Research Engineer (Diagnostic Technology) ()
Responsibilities:
Concept Development
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and objectives;
- Develop initial concepts and designs;
System Design
- Design and integrate high-resolution signal acquisition hardware with software systems;
- Ensure user-friendly platform design;
Prototyping and Testing
- Build and test prototypes to validate design functions;
- Conduct troubleshooting independently;
- Optimise the system for reliability and efficiency;
Documentation
- Prepare documentation for system design development and operation;
- Maintain records of all design changes and updates;
Support and Maintenance
- Provide technical support during system installation and operation; and
- Develop and implementmaintenance schedules and procedures.
Requirements:
- A bachelors degree or above in Electronic Engineering Bioengineering or a related discipline;
- Experience with CAD software hardware-software integration and the development of automated systems;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities;
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese including Cantonese and Putonghua;
- Experience with automated photography or auditory signal acquisition system will be an advantage; and
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations will be considered a plus.
