Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Camden to assist with the appointment of a Multi Skilled Commercial Engineer on a 2-months contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 21.91 - 28.91 per hour

Summary:

Camden Council is seeking a skilled and proactive Multi Skilled Commercial Engineer to deliver high-quality mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) services across schools childrens centres and other community properties. The role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance reactive repairs statutory testing and occasional installation works all in line with industry standards and Camdens Right First Time ethos. This position is key to ensuring well-maintained safe and efficient properties enabling staff and service users to focus on education and community needs without disruption from building issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out mechanical and/or electrical repairs maintenance and installations across commercial-type buildings.
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) statutory testing renewals and replacements.
  • Diagnose building faults compliance issues and asset failures applying cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
  • Deliver high standards of customer care coordinating works with minimal disruption.
  • Identify and plan follow-on works including quotations and scheduling.

Qualifications:

  • Recognised qualification in at least one MEP discipline (e.g. NVQ 3 City & Guilds or equivalent).

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated competence and experience in at least two MEP disciplines within commercial settings (ideally education environments).
  • Strong track record of maintenance repair and installation work to a high standard.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve diagnose faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience with new technologies building management systems and control equipment.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Full clean UK driving licence (essential for use of Council vehicle).
