Job Description
The Department of Geography at the University of Hong Kong is now inviting applications for the position of Part-time Research Assistant I/II to support a collaborative research project between the University of Hong Kong and the University of Chicago funded by the HKU Jockey Club Enterprise Sustainability Global Research Institute.
Project Overview
The project is a pilot study exploring climate-related environmental exposures among Hong Kong populations with a focus on climate change and health. This position offers a valuable opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a research career in environmental epidemiology.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will contribute to the day-to-day operations of the pilot study. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing study advertisement materials (e.g. flyers leaflets)
- Recruiting and liaising with research participants
- Supporting fieldwork and participant engagement
- Performing administrative and logistical tasks related to the study
- Assisting with other research activities as assigned

Requirements
- A Bachelors degree or above in Public Health Social Sciences or a related discipline (current students are welcome to apply)
- Strong interest in environmental epidemiology and public health research
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; proficiency in Cantonese is a must
- Willingness to conduct field-based recruitment and community engagement alongside supervisors
- Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly outgoing personality will be a significant advantage particularly for engaging with research participants in community settings
- Familiarity with research tools such as Qualtrics and MS Excel
- Proficiency in Chinese typing and basic graphic design software (e.g. Canva Photoshop)
- Prior experience in participant recruitment or quantitative research is an advantage
What We Offer
The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
