Job Description

The Position

TheBusiness Facilities & Operations Divisionis accepting applications for Accountant I/II.


The Accountant I/II performs professional accounting budget analysis and reviews and provides comprehensive fiscal knowledge accounting/fiscal support and technical assistance for departments sites and/or school districts and programs of the County Office of Education. The Accountant I/II monitors fiscal solvency and ensures funding compliance develops prepares audits revises and/or maintains a variety of accounting budget and financial reports statements transactions and records in accordance with applicable laws codes statutes rules regulations and ordinances. This class is responsible for accurate and timely accounting budget and fiscal production work under stringent timelines.

This position is full-time in-person and has a work year of 12 months/ 261 days/ 8 hours per day.

This position is an alternate class series. Passing candidates will be screened in as a Level I or Level II based on their education and experience as outlined in the job description and as it relates to the duties of the position.

Education and Experience

Any combination equivalent to:
Accountant I:

Accountant II:
  • Education: a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting auditing business law or a closely related field AND
  • Experience: two years as an Accountant I with the Santa Clara County Office of Education or at least three years of equivalent work experience in professional accounting and fiscal control work
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • A valid California Drivers License.
  • May require: Possession of or ability to obtain certification or its equivalent as a Certified Public Accountant as issued by the State of California.
