Job DescriptionTEACHER ASSISTANT Full TimeCategories: Special Education AssistantTiverton Public SchoolsTeacher Assistant 18-22 Transition ProgramTiverton Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support our 18-22 year old Transition Program. This program focuses on preparing young adults with developmental disabilities for independent living employment and community Overview:The Teacher Assistant will work under the direction of the Transition Program teacher to support students in school community and vocational settings. This role includes direct instruction supervision and job coaching include but are not limited to:Supporting students in developing independent living social and vocational with community-based instruction and work individualized and small-group support to foster skill with data collection and progress with the Transition Program teacher related service providers and and supervising students in community-based settings (as needed).Assist in implementing IEP out small group instruction and assist in one-on-one instruction as teachers and therapists in maintaining appropriate data and recordsSupport the continuous implementation of skills and goals associated with students OT SLP and PT out and maintain computer skills and communication devices for equipment sensory mobility behavior plans and self-care plans (toileting) per students needs - the physical ability to assist in lifting students for the purpose of positioning changing toileting etc. is essentialAdditional Requirements:Assist students with self-help skills (grooming toileting etc.)Assist students with mobility needs. (May involve lifting toileting etc.)Assist with lifting and positioning studentsAssist students in their environmental setting including the restroomAccompany students to physical therapy occupational therapy speech and chart positive reinforcement and close supervision for students with behavior in implementing the behavior plan as set up by the supervising teacher according to the and willingness to work with students who have special needs and/or aggressive behaviors (i.e. biting kicking hitting emotional outburst etc.)Assist with data keeping and the stages of an escalating crisis and intervene with evidence-based techniques to appropriately safe Information:The selected candidate will receive Job Coach Training upon follows the Tiverton Public Schools calendar.
