Our partner is an international not-for-profit corporation established under the laws of Kenya. They seek to recruit a Conservation Program Manager m/f based in Nanyuki. They are looking for a dynamic results-oriented individual inspired to be part of an organization committed to protecting wildlife.
Reporting to the Director of Conservation Programs the Conservation Program Officer will oversee the coordination of conservation activities between Kenya-based teams and headquarters in California. The role covers the full adaptive management cycle including strategic planning stakeholder engagement regulatory permitting implementation monitoring and ongoing refinement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities in line with the Organization annual Work Plan ensuring alignment between research activities and approved PIC and MAT documents.
- Develop data collection and data sharing agreements with research and community partners and government institutions. Manage protocols and guidelines to maintain compliance with said agreements by the organization.
- Foster conservation partnerships including existing relationships with KWS WRTI NRT community and private conservancies and other conservation NGOs in the region.
- Manage permits from government institutions including development of permit proposals renewal of existing permits management of reporting timelines and coordination of implementation committee meetings as outlined in current PIC/MAT agreements.
- Present scientific and conservation updates at formal and invited venues such as conferences and regional meetings/workshops.
- Adhere to safety and risk management and research compliance protocols.
- Coordinate partnership agreements (e.g. MOUs) through timelines and renewals with relevant parties in Kenya and US.
- Work with the Communications Department to convey information between Kenya-based programs and colleagues in the United States.
- Other duties as may be assigned in alignment with annual Work Plans.
