Finance Assistant Glasshouse Enterprises

Location:The Glasshouse ICM. Gateshead
Working hours: 21 hours per week
Salary:SCP 23 - 24846 per annum pro rata

About the role

Weve got a permanent spot in our finance team for someone whos ready to get stuck in supporting the commercial side of The Glasshouse thats all our cafs bars retail and conferencing.

Youll be the one keeping our numbers in line for The Glasshouse Enterprises posting transactions for purchase ledger sales ledger banking and cash and making sure the related balance sheets are reconciled.

Youll work closely with our Senior Management Accountant and Head of Finance making sure the team has everything it needs to keep things running smoothly.

If youre organised good with detail and happy juggling a few different things at once this could be right up your street.

It would be great if you had experience in:

  • You dont need to have done this exact job before. If youve got skills you can bring to the table or you reckon youd be a great fit wed love to hear from you.

Skills and knowledge of:

  • Strong IT skills in all MS Office products especially intermediate to advanced Excel knowledge and experience. A good working experience of computerised accounting systems.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills together with the ability to operate within tight deadlines and self check own work.
  • Good analytical written & oral communication skills.
  • Friendly approach and the ability to work as part of a team and with staff at all levels of seniority within the organisation.
  • Analytical approach accuracy and diligence.

It also helps if you have:

  • Substantial experience and understanding of purchase ledger bank reconciliation processes and general accounting entries in a fast moving organisation
  • Good knowledge and understanding of accounting principles best practice and VAT regulations.

Youll be responsible for:

  1. Purchase Ledger
    • Input and import purchase invoices to the finance systems accurately and on time with all relevant trackers completed.
    • To complete a weekly supplier payment run.
    • Allocate direct debit payments to supplier accounts
    • Complete supplier reconciliations and aged creditor management.
    • Completing Supplier Set ups and checks

  1. Cash and Banking
    • Complete all Bank entries and monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Support the Head of Finance with cashflow reporting.
    • Process and post petty cash requests including safe counts.
    • Complete the weekly cash count with F&B and post F&B sales journals

  1. Sales Ledger
    • Raise and issue Sales Ledger Invoices.
    • Deferring sales income where required and reconciling deferred income.
    • Responsibility for the Debt management process and reporting

  1. Any Other Duties
    • To assist the Senior Management Accountant (GE) and Head of Finance with ad-hoc projects and accounting exercises.
    • To undertake stand-in roles and cover for other colleagues from time to time as agreed with yourLine Manager.

  1. Controls and Procedures
    • To ensure that controls procedures conventions of use and timescales for tasks are current and are properly documented.
    • To act at all times in accordance with the Companys published policies and procedures.
    • To ensure that the requirements of the Data Protection Legislation are complied with in carrying out the duties of the post.
    • To contribute to the Company achieving Best Value through raising standards of performance and improving efficiency.
