Schedules coordinates and monitors the day to day operational functions of the Hematology Department.
The Hematology Department includes Hematology Coagulation and Urinalysis.. Implements quality standards
and provides oversight of section processes to achieve excellent outcome and quality patient care. Performs Laboratory testing on patient and control samples and/or prepares blood components for transfusion. Maintains a working
knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includes clinical correlation of
test results
quality control requirements and preventative maintenance. Maintains department readiness for regulatory inspections
and compliance requirements. Maintains department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with hospital policy. Is
responsible for department quality control records instrument maintenance regulatory agency compliance and supply
process. Participates in
the continuous quality improvement process through professional development continuing
education data collection and evaluation and quality assurance. Develops and maintains orientation training and
competency tools and ensures compliance. Assists the Manager in evaluating and documenting employee performance.
Assists Manager in
the recruitment hiring termination and retention of employees. Coordinates staff development
activities of section including education competency completion validation and orientation. Participates in
data
collection and analysis as requested by management. Maximizes efficiency in section operations. Exhibits willingness to
resolve problems as they arise. Knows FDA CLIA and CAP requirements.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC Anaheim Regional
Medical Center and AHMC Inc. It is expected that the employee demonstrates behavior consistent with the core values of

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Earned a doctoral or bachelors degree in
a chemical physical biological or clinical laboratory science or medical
technology from an accredited institution.
Four years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in
an acute care laboratory with minimum 6 months Hematology experience preferred. One year supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) registration preferred
Full-Time
