Job Description

Exciting Opportunity for a Locum Trauma Surgeon in Des Moines IA!

Join our dedicated team at a Level II Trauma center located in the vibrant city of Des Moines Iowa. Our facility is known for its commitment to quality care and innovation providing an excellent environment for physicians looking to make a significant impact. We are currently seeking a Locum Trauma Surgeon to help us during a transitional period as we recruit for a permanent position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide surgical care and trauma management in a busy Level II Trauma center.
  • Work a shift-based schedule specifically 12-hour nights (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) for 7 consecutive days.
  • Engage in outpatient follow-ups in clinic settings.
  • Collaborate with a talented team of 7 physicians and 12 advanced practitioners.
  • Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and communication.
  • Participate in resident rotations as part of a teaching facility.
  • Provide on-call trauma backup call split with the team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified in Surgery - REQUIRED (truly board eligible candidates will be considered).
  • Successfully completed a Fellowship in Critical Care - REQUIRED.
  • Active Iowa Medical License - REQUIRED (can accept Active IMLC with Letter of Qualification provided at the time of name clearance).
  • Clean malpractice and background history - REQUIRED.
  • Ability to perform trauma surgery (not limited to elective general surgery) - REQUIRED.

License and Certification Requirements:

  • Board Certification in Surgery.
  • Fellowship in Critical Care.
  • Active Medical License in Iowa or IMLC with applicable documentation.
  • Clean malpractice and background checks.
