Job Description

Summary
We are looking for experienced Special education teachers who have driven results with students with learning mental emotional and physical differences. They must adopt summit Learning curriculum techniques to teach students who are neurodiverse thinkers.
Responsibilities
  • Work 1-1 in small groups and in general classroom settings to support students with disabilities
  • Co-teach English and/or math courses to provide minutes required by IEPs
  • Communicating with parents about student needs and Kairos adjustments
  • Help Kairos stay in compliance with all special education laws and regulations
  • Requirement: Special Education Certification (i.e. the legal authority to provide IEP minutes)
  • Work 1-1 in small groups and in general classroom settings to support students with disabilities

  • Communicating with parents about student needs and Kairos adjustments
  • Help Kairos stay in compliance with all special education laws and regulations
  • Requirement: Special Education Certification (i.e. the legal authority to provide IEP minutes) Follows all policies rules and procedures of Kairos Academies.
  • Papers and homework collected should be organized labeled and placed within the lesson plans at the direction of the special education team.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of student information in compliance with school policies state law and federal law.
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.
  • Guides independent study enrichment work and intervention work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary throughout a variety of school and community settings.
  • Checks students work corrects papers and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in maintaining work and study areas equipment materials and facilities.
  • Assists the students(s) assigned to the paraprofessional in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear moving from room to room using the lavatory etc. as necessary per student IEP.
  • Operates teaching aids i.e. VCRs computers tape recorders etc.
  • Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  • Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
  • Assists with data progress monitoring responsibilities of the teacher.
  • Assists with lunch snacks clean up wash up and toilet routines as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists with health-related procedures such as but not limited to feeding tube feeding as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists with lifting positioning carrying toileting cleaning intermittent catheterization and suctioning when trained by a certified professional as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists the teacher in dealing with students who have challenging behaviors per student IEP or behavior support planning

Whole School Service
  • Serve as the schools SPED Lead through The Excellent School Project (TEP) ensuring alignment between special education services and the schools broader academic vision.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and general education teachers to embed inclusive practices and universal design for learning across all content areas.
  • Lead schoolwide professional development initiatives on best practices in special education accommodations and modifications.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the school and external SPED consultants and compliance officers under the TEP framework.
  • Coordinate and guide the development implementation and progress monitoring of IEPs to ensure all students receive the support they need to thrive.
  • Utilize TEP protocols and systems to ensure the school is in full legal and instructional compliance with IDEA and state regulations.
  • Coach and mentor other educators in data-driven instruction and differentiation to better serve neurodiverse learners.
Technology Skills
  • Ability and competence in Microsoft Office applications and using various computer applications and platforms.
  • Ability to use essential office equipment.
  • I also have knowledge and experience in using a computer-based student information management system.
  • I have the ability to use Spedtrak

  • react to emergencies and report hazardous practices to those in a position to correct them.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelors degree Required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Missouri Substitute Certification Required
  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification content specific to role applied for Strongly Preferred or willing to become certified ASAP.
  • 3 years of teaching experience Preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal records check pre-hire and annually thereafter if applicable.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.

Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday 7:45am- 4:00 pm
    • Some weekends and evenings will be required.
