Overview:
We are seeking an experienced bilingual (English/Spanish) Flatbed Safety Manager to lead our safety operations. This role is critical to ensuring the well-being of our drivers and compliance across all flatbed operations. The ideal candidate will be confident hands-on and strategic capable of designing implementing and sustaining a strong safety program while collaborating with drivers operations and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies and programs specific to flatbed operations.
Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance including driver qualification files logs inspections and reporting.
Lead driver safety meetings training sessions and provide individualized coaching.
Conduct accident and incident investigations perform root cause analysis and oversee corrective actions.
Manage DOT audits CSA score monitoring and stay updated on regulatory changes.
Oversee claims OSD (Overages Shortages and Damages) and insurance reporting.
Coordinate breakdowns and ensure timely communication and resolution.
Support recruiting by assisting with driver safety screening and onboarding processes.
Promote a culture of safety aligned with company values and operational goals.
Serve as a trusted resource for drivers recognizing and rewarding safe driving behaviors.
Required Qualifications:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum of 8 years of safety department experience in trucking including 1 year managing a safety department.
Direct experience with flatbed trucking operations.
In-depth knowledge of DOT FMCSA and OSHA safety regulations.
Experience with accident investigations claims and compliance audits.
Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cross-functional experience in breakdown coordination recruiting and claims/OSD management.
Safety certifications such as CDS (Certified Director of Safety) or CSS (Certified Safety Supervisor).
