Environmental Health Officer
Location: Oran Park South West Sydney
Contract Type: 4-month contract
Pay Rate: Competitive pay rates
About the Role
ACM is currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Environmental Health Officer for a fantastic opportunity to work with a local government division. This is a great chance to get your foot in the door and make a real impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct food premises inspections using the FPAR
- Provide excellent customer service to retail food proprietors
- Issue correspondence including FPAR reports educational materials Improvement Notices and regulatory reports as required
- Perform inspections of beauty salons and skin penetration premises
- Investigate and resolve assigned complaints
- Attend pollution incidents and provide pollution control advice
- Implement and conduct environmental monitoring and reporting programs
- Liaise with councils state government bodies and community groups
- Represent Council in legal proceedings when required
- Promote environmental health initiatives within the community
- Undertake inspections and regulate various premises including:
- Food premises
- Temporary food stalls
- Mobile food vendors
- Skin penetration and hairdressing services
- Public swimming pools
- Mortuaries
- On-site sewage management systems
Desirable Skills:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to negotiate and educate key stakeholders
- Capacity to adopt an educational approach with escalation to regulation as required
- Willingness to assist the broader EHO team as needed

Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant science applied science or similar degree with previous experience in an environmental health role
- Current C Class Drivers Licence
- Availability for on-call duties outside normal office hours
- Ability to conduct inspections outside office hours
- Willing to complete:
- Police check
- Pre-employment medical
