Cemetery Groundskeeper

Grounds Maintenance - General Labor Sylvania OH

Monday-Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm

Occasional mandatory OT as needed during Spring/Summer

Pay Rate:

$15-$18 per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping
  • Mow trim edge and maintain lawns flowerbeds shrubs and trees throughout the cemetery.
  • Perform seasonal landscaping such as planting flowers pruning lead collection and snow cleaning.
  • Keep equipment in good working condition by performing minor maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Burial Site Preparation
  • Prepare and close graves with precision ensuring the surrounding areas are kept neat and presentable for services.
  • Position and install vaults markers and headstones in accordance with cemetery regulations.
  • Support setup for funeral services and events ensuring a dignified and professional setting.
• General Maintenance and Cleanliness
  • Maintain pathways benches and common areas keeping them clean safe and accessible.
  • Pick up litter and remove debris from the grounds ensuring a respectful and well-kept environment.
  • Report any larger maintenance or repair needs to cemetery management for timely attention.
• Customer Service and Interaction
  • Provide respectful assistance to families and visitors answering questions or offering directions as needed.
  • Act with a compassionate and professional demeanor recognizing the sensitive nature of the grounds.
• Safety and Compliance
  • Follow all cemetery policies safety guidelines and regulatory standards for groundskeeping and burial site preparation.
  • Use protective equipment when handling machinery and conducting physical tasks.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
  
• High school diploma or GED required
• Landscaping or grounds maintenance experience preferred
• Familiarity with using and performing maintenance on landscaping equipment such as mowers and trimmers
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to bend stand stoop walk and lift over 50lbs
