Position Summary:
Provide Anatomical Pathology services during normal working hours;
Personally carry out a share of the departmental histo- and cytopathology reporting load including (for cytopathologists) performance and interpretation of fine-needle aspiration biopsy cytopathology;
Participate in Quality Assurance and Utilisation Review programs;
Assist in maintenance and selection of equipment;
Participate in teaching and research duties;
Promote good patient care and the good reputation of the Department and the Hospital;
Participate in the Anatomical Pathology on-call roster.

Selection Criteria:
Possess or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
Possess or soon to be eligible to possess (by early 2026) Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in Anatomical Pathology or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists State Award;
Has demonstrated knowledge skills and a high standard of practice across the broad areas of Anatomical Pathology including dermatopathology gastrointestinal pathology and cytopathology including gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytopathology; expertise in one or more of haematopathology neuropathology and molecular pathology is an advantage; and a willingness to develop specific areas of interest as discussed with the head of Department and the subspeciality lead pathologists from time to time
Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development dissemination and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment;
Demonstrated knowledge experience and commitment to the implementation of best practice and clinical service innovation;
Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary environment with excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
Demonstrated commitment to teaching at specialty registrar junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;
Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
